Stacey Woods is the winner of our “Summer Fun at the Track” Zoom Challenge for August.
Stacey’s photo of her four year old daughter (Jaime) watching her dad warm up "Laverns Art" at Dresden Raceway on August 18, was the most popular choice in our poll from four great candid shots.
“I'm not a professional photographer by any means, I'm just a mom that likes taking photos to capture a memory,” explained Woods, “Our daughter Jaime loves being at the racetrack watching the horses. She cheers as loud as she can for her horse and her dad.”
Woods became involved with harness racing when she met her husband, trainer-driver Dave Woods. His family has been in the business for many years. They own and operate Advantage Sulky, a business that manufactures and repairs race sulkies.
The Woods family lives in Essex, Ontario and Stacey works for a utility company as a technologist in the hydro engineering department.
“I love being able to get photos like this one, it shows just how close they actually are in a race, it shows the power and strength of both athletes,” Lori commented.

Get Those iPhones and Cameras Out for the Next Challenge!
Our theme for the September Zoom Challenge will be “Kindred Spirits.” We are looking for images that show a special connection or bond between a person and a horse, or a horse and a farm friend. (goat, pony, dog, cat, etc.)
This is our last Zoom Challenge for the year, so get snappin!
You can use your camera or your smartphone but remember that photos should be a minimum of 72 dpi.
Photos are due by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, September 30. A committee will select a handful of the best entries which will be included in a poll on SC’s website. Readers will then have the chance to vote for the photo they like the best. We’ll also post some of our favourite entries on our Pinterest page. Email your photos to [email protected].
Contest Guidelines:
- Open to Fan Club members only. Not a member? Join HERE for free! (IMPORTANT: photo submissions entered by non-Fan Club members will NOT be considered for the contest)
- Only amateur photographers may enter this contest.
- Photos should be taken during the contest period.
- Photos must be a minimum 72 dpi, however 150 dpi is preferred.
- Photos may not appear to be digitally altered.
- Upon submission, you are releasing your photographs to Standardbred Canada and we reserve the right to publish them on our website, Facebook page, Pinterest Page and in print if we so choose (due credit will be given)
- Contest will end September 30
- Please include your name in the filename of your photo
- When you submit your photo, please include your name, address, and details about the subject matter that you photographed, (any names, location) as well as the date that the photo was taken.
