TROT Magazine Fantasy Stable Leaderboard Update

2025 TROT Magazine Fantasy Stable

History has a strange way of repeating itself.

One year ago, the update for the 2024 TROT Magazine Fantasy Stable contest noted that Randy Proud of Stratford, P.E.I. boasted the best stable bankroll among the 1,078 contestants. At that time, it was noted that Proud was also the contest leader after the month of July in the 2023 edition of harness racing's fantasy stable contest.

After setting the tempo early in the last two editions, can Randy Proud continue to cut the mile and hold on for victory in 2025?

As of Sept. 1, 2025, the stable comprised by Proud sported a bankroll of $4,501,746 to best the 1,124 contestants in this year's contest. Not far behind is Richard Kalina of Strongsville, Oh., who ranks second with $4,481,307 in total earnings. In a close race for the show spot, less than $1,000 separates third ranked Matt Element of Peterborough, Ont. ($4,373,082) and Michael Potvin of Carlsbad Springs, Ont. ($4,372,340).

The TROT Fantasy Stable Contest is based on total earnings of selected horses and five per cent of the earnings of selected trainers and drivers between May 23 and Dec. 31, 2025.

Thanks in large part to our co-sponsors — The Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown and OnGait.com — TROT Magazine is now able to offer the top three finishers prizes totalling the highest value in the history of the contest.

Once again this year, for the purposes of the fantasy bankroll, the winners (horses only) of the 2025 Breeders Crown finals, to be contested at Woodbine Mohawk Park, will each receive a $200,000 contest bankroll bonus. There was no bonus for the 2025 Hambletonian-winning horse, Nordic Catcher S, as he was not a part of this year's contest.

At the end of the year, the first three finishers (based on total earnings) will be awarded prizes in the amount of $1,000 CAD for first place, $500 CAD for second place and $250 CAD for third place, as well as the same amount (in USD credit) on OnGait.com. (OnGait credit is transferable).

Standardbred Canada reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to substitute a prize or portion of a prize with equivalent monetary value, if a prize or any part of the prize, cannot be awarded as described for any reason.
