Two-time Hervey Award-winning writer Brad Schmaltz has been named the Tom White Media Award winner for 2021 by the Little Brown Jug and the Delaware (Ohio) County Fair.
Schmaltz grew up in Wapakoneta, Ohio, and graduated from Bowling Green State University. After stints at The Evening Leader (St. Marys, Ohio) and the Springfield (Ohio) News Sun, he worked at the Columbus Dispatch for over 22 years, until his retirement in 2007.
He was awarded the prestigious Hervey Award in 2004 with his feature on driver David Miller and in 1994 for his story on trainer Bill Robinson.
Schmaltz will be presented his award at a ceremony Tuesday evening, Sept. 21, in the Delaware Log Cabin.
The award honours the legacy of longtime Little Brown Jug and Hall of Fame publicist, Tom White, who passed away in 2019.
