For the second week-in-a-row, Prodigal Seelster shipped to Kawartha Downs and turned in a track record-setting performance against the province’s finest three-year-old old pacing colts and geldings for the duo of driver Scott Zeron and trainer Dave Menary

.

The son of Camluck-Platinum Seelster won by a football field - or 11-1/2 lengths as it was officially charted - in the $130,000 OSS Gold Series final, and the 1:50.1 clocking erased his own track standard of 1:50.4 set during last week’s elimination.

Zeron released Cam B Zipper to the lead when that when challenged in the early going, but Prodigal Seelster didn’t sit long. Zeron had him parked and driving at the quarter pole in :26 seconds. Prodigal Seelster ripped through fractions of :54.4 and 1:22.1 before using a :28-second kicker to seal the deal as the 3-5 favourite. Mystician rallied to grab the runner-up award, while Machal Jackson grabbed third prize.

Larry Menary, Denis Breton, Kenneth Ewen and Double Or Nothing Stables of Ontario share ownership on the 11-time winner, who improved this year’s record to 5-2-3 in 13 tries. The pacer has banked in excess of $327,000 this season and $806,877 to date.
