For the second week-in-a-row, Bolero Charles marched to the front and didn’t look back in Rideau Carleton Raceway’s $13,000 Preferred class for pacers

The nine-year-old son of Jennas Beach Boy-Bolero Takara, fresh off a 1:51 triumph in last week’s edition of the class, front-stepped to a 1:53 in Thursday evening’s main event for the duo of driver Guy Gagnon and trainer Gerard Demers.

Bolero Charles parked past the quarter pole in :26.2 before working his way to the lead and supplying the field with middle panels of :55.1 and 1:23.4. He tacked on a :29.1 kicked to win by 1-1/2 lengths over Chasin Racin, with Pieraz rounding out the top three in the nightly feature.

It was the eighth win of the season and the 35th lifetime tally for Bolero Charles, who is owned by 9174 7998 Quebec Inc of Blainville, QC. He’s banked in excess of $70,000 this season and more than $547,000 in his career.

Guy Gagnon racked up two wins on the program, and in doing so he maintains one-win lead over teamster John MacDonald. MacDonald, who enjoyed a five-win performance over the course of the 15-race program, clicked with Jawjackin (1:56.2), Spocks Champ (1:57.1), Passion Starlet (1:57), Genuine Star N (1:55.4) and Little Man Cam (1:55.3) to bring this year's win total to 203 at Rideau Carleton Raceway.
