OK Commander's trainer, Gregg McNair, has given Trot Insider an update on the speedy son on Art Major, and the news is not good for the remainder of the colt's
three-year-old campaign.
After having flown to a 1:47.4, wire-to-wire victory in his Meadowlands Pace elimination on July 10, OK Commander was scratched from the rich final due to a painful injury sustained high on his right front leg.
McNair had previously told Trot Insider that the plan was to try to get OK Commander patched up so he could finish his season.
"He's done for the year," McNair told Trot Insider today. "He cracked his right knee and he's lame."
McNair explained that OK Commander will require two months of stall rest and will be wintering at his Guelph, Ont. farm.
"We're looking to bring him back next spring," McNair said.
Please join Standardbred Canada in wishing OK Commander a speedy and complete recovery.
