The Passion Brings Balzer Back

Published: September 1, 2009 11:29 am EDT

John Balzer, now a part-time horseman, leaves his heart in the barn every morning as he makes his way to his

day job.

The 58-year-old resident of Hampton Bays, New York has been profiled in a feature article by 27east.com.

The experienced horseman, who is also an employee of the United States Post Office, has been keeping a proverbial toe in the harness racing waters via a three-year-old Artsplace filly by the name of BJs Aurora.

“It’s just soulful to be with horses,” Balzer was quoted as saying. “I just enjoy it. It’s not all about winning races. The highs are few and far between. I just enjoy the daily contact with horses, being around them, working with them and caring for them.”

Could any one have said it better than Mr. Balzer? Being around horses is indeed "Soulful"

Those of us with the privelage of visiting a back stretch and just being around the animal knows that feeling.

Mr Balzer's sentiments on the topic rank right up there with those expressed by Will Rogers who said "Nothing is better for the inside of a man, than the outside of a horse"

Well Said Mr. Balzer (Pardon The Pun)
