Launching off cover, Ali landed at the finish first in the $9,500 Preferred 3 Pace at Georgian Downs on Sunday (Aug. 9).
Paparazzi Hanover pushed from the pylons for the lead with Artistic Pick sitting second to a :27.2 first quarter. Odds-on favourite Carsons Shadow pulled first over from fifth moving to a :56.4 half—tracked by Ali—and marched to match strides with the leader passing three-quarters in 1:24.1. Taking a narrow lead into the stretch, Carsons Shadow shortened stride as Ali fanned off cover and shot to the lead in progress to a 1:52.2 win. G A Speed Sammy rode the pylons to finish second, one-and-three-quarter lengths behind, with Carsons Shadow third.
Winning his second race from 15 starts this season and his ninth from 60 overall, Ali has accrued $107,835 for owners Luc Ouellette Incorporated and Alan Alber. Travis Henry drove the five-year-old gelding by Dali. Anita Ouellette trains the $11.70 winner.
