Wheeling back after his victory only four days ago, Schoolkids showed no ill effects as he scored a narrow front-end victory in Wednesday’s $20,000 Open Handicap Pace at The Meadows.

Assigned post 8, Schoolkids pocketed Something For Doc early and had to charge home in :26.3 to defeat that rival by a nose in 1:50.1. The Pepperoni Kid rallied for show. Greg Grismore drove the six-year-old son of I Am A Fool-Game Bunny, who now boasts $870,650 in career earnings, for trainer Mike Palone and owner New Jennaration LLC.

Dave Palone drove five winners and Mike Wilder three on the 15-race card.

Live harness racing at The Meadows resumes Friday when the card features the $281,114 Meadow Bright, a Pennsylvania Sires Stake for three-year-old filly trotters that has attracted divisional leader Check Me Out, who goes from post 4 in Race 10 with Tim Tetrick aboard. The program also includes a $60,000 Pennsylvania Stallion Series event for sophomore filly trotters. First post is 6:55 p.m.
