Veteran horseman Earl Hyatt turned back the clock today at Dresden Raceway as the 78-year-old reinsman guided 11-year-old D C Jackson to the winner’s circle
in the 10th race.
Hyatt started D C Jackson moving just past the quarter pole and cleared to the front just past the half in 1:02.4. The duo held off the rest of the field past three quarters in 1:33.3 before edging out Perfect Complement and Chris Johnston by a nose in 2:04.2.
Earl and Russ Hyatt of Brigden are the owners of the D J Jackson gelding while Earl is the conditioner and teamster.
D C Jackson has won over $128,000 in his career, but has failed to make a trip to the winner’s circle in the last two years until today.
The 78-year-old Hyatt has won races 532 lifetime and has $804,647 earned in purses.
In other action, Kevin Wallis scored one more victory at Dresden Raceway today, which gives him a season leading 31 victories as the leading dash driver while Brad Forward and Mark Williams are tied for second with 18 wins.
The handle today was $14,542.
