Overlooked in the Hambletonian Day festivities was a milestone win for Ron Pierce, one of the top
drivers in harness racing.
Pierce came into the day one win away from the 7,000 win plateau, and he reached it in the $50,000 Invitational aboard Montecito N who found room late in the mile and came flying home in :25.4 for the victory in 1:49.2.
The Clarksburg, NJ resident has over $150 million US in career purse earnings, placing him third all-time on that list with only John Campbell and Mike Lachance ahead of him.
