Eldorado Scioto Downs played host to three $28,169 divisions of the Buckeye Stallion Series for three-year-old filly pacers on Friday, Aug. 7.
The fastest division went to Eyes Up in 1:51.2 for the driver and trainer, husband and wife team Cameron and Jessica McCown. Making her way to the front from post four, Eyes Up led the field through fractions of :26.3, :55.2 and 1:23.1 before winning by a length over Dragons Blaze (Trevor Smith) and favourite Katies On Fire (Sam Widger). Eyes Up, by Lather Up out of the Rocknroll Hanover mare Dazzling Rockette is owned by Caldwell Mamie Racing of Bellaire, Ohio. She now with five wins in 22 lifetime starts with earnings just shy of the $100,000 mark.
A Buckeye Stallion Series winner at Scioto in June, Shehasaway won another in 1:53.4 for driver Trevor Smith and trainer Steve Bauder. Favourite Lil Keisha (Chris Page) set the fractions of :28.4, :59 and 1:26 while Shehasaway got away fourth. Coming first-up after the half, Shehasaway posted a :27 last quarter to win by a neck over Lil Keisha while I Aint A Fool (Luke Hanners) was third. By Summa Cum Laude out of the Artiscape mare Town Temptress, Shehasawayis a homebred for Steve Bauder of Greenville, Ohio and Harold Bauder of Delaware, Ohio and is also co-owned by Douglas Swihart of Marion, Ohio. She now has $124,777 earned in 15 lifetime starts with four wins.
The last division was won by Ima Beach Girl and Luke Hanners in 1:52.2 for trainer Sam Schillaci. Favourite Mingle In Dingle (David Miller) set the early fractions as Ima Beach Girl waited back in third. Setting fractions of :27.3, :56.4 and 1:24.3, Mingle In Dingle was unpressured, but down the backstretch, Ima Beach Girl pulled and got up alongside the leader mid-way through the last turn. Posting a :27.1 last quarter, Ima Beach Girl won by a neck over Mingle In Dingle while pocket-sitter Baxter Tough (Tyler Smith) was third. By Downbytheseaside out of the Western Hanover mare Tea Pot Hanover, Ima Beach Girl is owned by Schillaci Stables of Macedonia, Ohio, John Manning of Salem, Ohio and Sam Bova Racing of Irving, New York. She now has three wins in 23 lifetime starts with $166,652 earned.
Racing continues at Scioto Downs on Saturday, Aug. 8 with a 16-race card starting at 5:25 p.m.
