The Northfield Park race office has drawn the post positions for this Saturday’s (August 12) $300,000 Carl Milstein Memorial for three-year-old male pacers.
Fear The Dragon has drawn the rail and has been named the 3-5 morning-line favourite. He will enter the Milstein as the top-ranked horse in the North American harness racing industry. Fear The Dragon has won nine of his 10 seasonal starts and over $1 million in 2017 purse earnings. His wins include victories in the $1-million North America Cup at Mohawk Racetrack, the $500,000 Hempt at Pocono and the $400,000 Adios at the Meadows. Fear The Dragon’s connections are all natives of Ohio (trainer Brian Brown, driver David Miller, and owner-breeder Bruce Trogdon, who is the proprietor of Emerald Highlands Farm).
Thirteen-time winner Downbytheseaside, another Brian Brown trainee, drew Post 7 and is the 9-2 second choice on the morning line. He has finished in the top three in 21 of his 22 career races and has earned in excess of $1.2 million in overall purse earnings. His most recent effort was a third-place finish in the $334,325 Cane Pace at the Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey.
