A 2:00.3 victory at Killarney on Sunday earned Romanie Ranger a spot in the track’s record book for

three-year-old pacing colts.

The son of As Promised-Romanie Hanover led from start to finish in the record-setting victory for the partnership of Darryl and Sherri Mason of Killarney and Alan Armstrong of Ninette, MB.

With Darryl Mason at the lines, the colt threw down fractions of :29.2, 1:01.3 and 1:31.1 before uncorking a :29.2 final frame en route to the 2:00.3 triumph over What A Rose and Satin Moonlight. The clocking erased the former mark of 2:01.4 set by People Pleaser more than five years ago on July 30, 2005.

Sherri Mason trains Romanie Ranger, who extended his winning streak to three-in-a-row with the victory. The pacer has assembled a 4-2-1 record in seven starts this season after going unraced as a rookie.
