Not Enough out-dueled her stablemate Yellow Diamond to win the $405,000 Mistletoe Shalee for three-year-old pacing fillies in World Record fashion on Saturday at the Meadowlands Racetrack

Yellow Diamond (Jim Morrill, Jr.) sped to the first quarter in :26.2 from the outside position as Gamblers Passion (John Campbell) yielded for the pocket spot. Yellow Diamond took the field to the half in :54.1, where Not Enough, who got away fourth from Post 1, made her move and rolled first-up. The Grinfromeartoear-Party Planner filly laid on the pressure past three-quarters in 1:21.3 and matched strides with the pacesetter down the lane. She eventually wore down her co-favoured entrymate and tripped the timer in a dazzling 1:49. The time of the mile erased the former World Record of 1:49.2 held by Rainbow Blue, Incredible Tillie, Hana Hanover and Happy Dreamer.

Yellow Diamond finished a half-length back in second and Gamblers Passion was right there for third.

“It wasn’t really my game plan [to go first-over], but she’s very versatile,” said Tetrick following the race. “She’s a very nice filly and you can do anything you like with her. It worked out that they went enough fractions up front. I probably could have quarter-poled, but I thought that would be too tough on her. I took my chances first-up.

“She’s very versatile and very tough. She can do it either way. She’s so smart; if she gets a head in front she’ll just wait on them and take care of herself. She’ll fight tooth and nail to get to the wire first.”

Trained by Tracy Brainard for the Bulletproof Enterprises of Boca Raton, Florida, Not Enough kept her sophomore record untarnished with the win and is now 10-for-10 this season with $923,910 earned. Her 13th lifetime win boosted her bankroll to $965,610.

“She’s a great filly and she races tough every week,” said Brainard, who added that both Not Enough and Yellow Diamond will head to Chester next Sunday.
