Normally the one behind the camera for milestone moments, Carter Gimblett was the subject of the first race win photo on Saturday (August 6) at Kawartha Downs as the young horseman notched his first career training win.
Gimblett sent out five-year-old pacing mare Wine Tyme, a daughter of Warrawee Needy - Chardonnay that he co-owns with James 'Friday' Dean, in a $7,000 claiming event in Saturday's lidlifter at the Peterborough area oval. Dismissed at odds of 7-1 despite her inside starting spot, Wine Tyme made it picture time for her connections, towing driver Nick Boyd to a win in wire-to-wire fashion, stopping the clock in 1:58 more than two lengths to the good.
Wine Tyme notched her second win of the season, and first for the connections who purchased the mare privately this past May.
The son of popular track photographer Todd Gimblett, Carter Gimblett has also been active at tracks in southwestern Ontario that are serviced by Todd's Racehorsephoto. He picked up his first win in his 10th attempt.
