Driver Lorne House broke into the four-digit plateau when winning at Hiawatha Horse Park on Saturday (Aug. 7).
After winning No. 999 behind P L Orchid in the afternoon’s second race, House returned the winner’s circle four races later with Sunseeker, a 14-1 shot who ground first over to a head victory in a 1:56.3 mile. House steered the sophomore gelding by Sunshine Beach for owner-trainer Greg Merlo and paid $31.00 to win.
House stands with 1,000 victories on his card, which includes just over 10,000 starts and $6.2 million in purse money.
