Cartier Volo Cashes In Saratoga Feature

The lone lady in the $15,000 Open Trot, Cartier Volo landed home first at Saratoga Casino Hotel on Tuesday, Aug. 6.

Driver Frank Coppola Jr. steered the five-year-old Cash Hall mare first over on pacesetter Mister Muscle, who went to the front after recovering from an early-race break. Mister Muscle had enough to hold off Cartier Volo, but his break in stride warranted disqualification and placed the Margaret Spagnola trainee first. Silent Pine moved into second with Ulster taking third.

Cartier Volo paid $12.80 to win in the mild upset and led an exacta and triple that came back $162.50 and $467, respectively, as she bested the boys to record her first Open score.

Live racing continues on Wednesday evening, Aug. 7 at Saratoga with a 7:05 p.m. first post.
