Euro Classic capitalized off a perfect pocket trip to win the featured $7,000 Preferred 3 Trot on Wednesday night at Grand River Raceway.
Euro Classic and driver Per Henriksen followed inside starter The Northern Dude (Ross Battin) through fractions of :28.3, :58.1, and 1:27.2 before out-sprinting the leader to the wire. Euro Classic prevailed in 1:57 by one length over The Northern Dude while the popular first over challenger, Perfect Vacation (Trevor Henry), finished third.
The 5-1 third choice paid $12.50 to win. He is trained by Ann Karin Larsen, who also shares ownership with Tor Jan Larsen of Norwood, Ont. and Norway's Odd Larsen.
The five-year-old Chocolatier gelding has earned 11 top three finishes in 18 seasonal starts to bank $33,897 in purses. Lifetime, the 16-time winner has earned $120,651.
