Majorca N turned in the mile of her life defeating 3-5 favourite Drama Act in the $40,000 Fillies & Mares Open Handicap Pace on Hambletonian Day at The Meadowlands.
Driver Corey Callahan worked out the winning pocket trip for Majorca N as she hustled off the gate from post three with Drama Act and Yannick Gingras firing wide into the first turn to take over command through a hot :26 opener.
After middle splits of :54.4 and 1:22.3 with the outer flow stalling, Callahan called on Majorca N down the stretch and she wore down the front-striding Drama Act for the victory by three-quarters of a length in a career-best clocking of 1:48.4. Chase Lounge (Andy Miller) angled out from third for the show money.
Sent postward at odds of 4-1, Majorca N returned $10.20 to win.
Dylan Davis trains and co-owns the seven-year-old Art Major-Cloudy Beach mare, who knocked four-fifths of a second off her mark that she took in the Betsy Ross Invitational this spring. Majorca N has won seven of her 15 starts this year and now has 21 victories lifetime and earnings topping the $250,000 mark for Davis and partner Michael Casalino Jr. of Freehold, New Jersey.
