After a three-year absence, one of Quebec's most accomplished racehorses returns home on Sunday
.
Eleven-year-old Power Park, a career winner of almost $900,000, is scheduled to start in the eighth race of the Sunday afternoon card at Hippodrome de Quebec, a $2,300 pace.
The Quebec-bred son of Good News Scooter was a star of the Quebec circuit from 2002 to 2008, winning numerous stakes races including the $100,000 Coupe Des Eleveurs final in Montreal at 3 and the $43,000 Benoit Cote stake in Quebec City as eight-year-old. He was driven in the latter race by Stephane Brosseau, who'll be reunited with him Sunday.
Power Park followed trainer and co-owner Jean Beaulieu to the U.S. after Hippodrome de Montreal discontinued live racing, and competed mostly at Rockingham Park, Pompano and Tioga Downs.
He has 60 career victories and has won at least once in nine consecutive calendar years, though he's still looking for his first win of 2011. He took his mark of 1:50 at Mohawk as a five-year-old.
