New York Sires Stakes action continued on Friday night at Batavia Downs Casino with 2-year-old colt and gelding trotters going in six divisions worth $19,700 each
.
Trainer/driver Dan Daley took two of the NYSS divisions with Royal Shyster and Flyhawk Jester, both sons of RC Royalty.
The fastest division went to Royal Shyster, who took control at the quarter, withstood a serious challenge up the backstretch and then dug in to hold of a fast closing Delano with Ray Schnittker in 1:59.1. The final time was more than two seconds faster than the other divisions and just two-fifths of a second off the track record set last year by Dejarmbro.
This was the third won of the season for Royal Shyster (RC Royalty-Spin The Planet). He’s earned $43,976 for owners Albert Crawford, Ann-Mari Daley, Richard Lombardo and Robert Pergament.
Flyhawk Jester took advantage of his rail post draw and never had an anxious moment as he went gate-to-wire for trainer-driver Daley in 2:01.2. The complexion of his race changed when the highly regarded Taxman and Brad Kramer made a costly break.
Ann-Mari Daley, Albert Crawford, Richard Lombardo and Michelle Crawford own Flyhawk Jester (RC Royalty-Graduation Party) who has now won four in a row. His only defeat came when he was parked the mile at Monticello . Flyhawk Jester has lifetime earnings of $53,519.
