Officials from Baymount Inc. have offered comment on yesterday's news that the local licence holder issued Baymount a deadline to commence construction on Belleville's Quinte Raceway project.
Ray Veeneman, Baymount's vice-president of operations, told the Belleville Intellgencer that he couldn't comment on specifics but that talks of securing financing were scheduled for Thursday.
"Our board is meeting (this afternoon) to look at the deal to take a look at it and either approve or deny it," stated Veeneman. "I really don't have a lot I can tell you until after the board meeting."
Belleville's Mayor Neil Ellis remains confident that Baymount will fufill its commitment and develop the new raceway and casino.
"I've been involved and have met with the new investor and it seems to be very positive," said Ellis. "Obviously, with Baymount being a publicly traded company a lot of information can't be shared but I'm positive we'll be moving on to the next chapter now."
