North America's leading dash champion, Aaron Merriman, put up some big numbers on Sunday (Aug. 4) at MGM Northfield Park, with nine victories on the fifteen-race program.
Merriman's winning got underway with three straight winners, beginning in the second half of the early daily double, winning in gate-to-wire fashion with Look Kimbo ($3.60) trained by Don Ray. He used the same technique with Barn Hall ($2.40) and Sezana N ($2.20).
Merriman would put up three more in a row, with Odds On Pick Six ($3.80), Linnycalledfrankie ($2.80), and Cyclone Banne N ($4.40) all taking their respective overnight events, again in gate-to-wire fashion.
Merriman guided Poster Pets ($3.40), Fullback ($3.80), and his longest-price winner Kashed Up A ($6.60) to victory on the back part of the program.
Merriman who began driving in 1997 is working on his tenth national dash championship.
The 50-cent Pick-6 remained uncovered on Sunday for a third night, creating a carryover of $4,862.23 for bettors to swing at in Monday's (August 5) eighth race.
Live racing resumes at MGM Northfield Park on Monday at 6 p.m.
