Crowe Wins Five At Truro

Horseman Darren Crowe topped the harness racing action at Truro Raceway on Sunday winning five of the 14 races, including four with his own trainees.

Crowe scored right out of the gate with the maiden-breaking colt Koultons Rocket ($8.50) and five-year-old mare Trustmeonemoretime ($12) in the first and second races of the day. He later won the fifth race with another first-time winning colt Colbys Comet ($9.50) while stablemate Woodmere Trakeater finished second. Crowe's next win came two races later with seven-year-old gelding Rum Tuff Customer ($4.60). He scored his final victory in the following race with Kenneth Greene trainee Dans Ideal ($14.70).

The resident of Lower Onslow, N.S. boosted his driving win total to 935 lifetime while his training summary climbed to 336.

Danny Romo came in second for most wins on the day as he scored a training triple with the maiden-breaking colt The Rev ($3.60) in the third, sophomore gelding Island Lexus ($23.20) with Robert Laffin driving in the sixth, and veteran pacer Hilo ($5.90) winning his return appearance in over two years in the 10th.

Greene ended the day with two wins, his other with St Lads Dagwood in the featured $1,225 Winners Over Pace. Driver Ernest Laffin sent him gate-to-wire to score in 1:57.3. The victory was the seven-year-old Camotion gelding's third in the last four starts and sixth this year.
