Leamington Kicks Off Its 2019 Meet

On Sunday (August 4), Leamington Raceway kicked off its 13-date live season with a nine-dash program that featured a $5,500 Preferred 4 Pace, which was captured by Tuition Money ($6.90) in 1:57.1.

Tuition Money, who had pilot Marc St. Louis in the sulky, faced the gate for the last of the afternoon’s races. The duo got away from the starting gate well, and were able to get into the two-hole prior to the quarter pole, which was reached in :27.3.

St. Louis opted to enjoy the view from the garden spot, as he watched the Tyler Borth-driven NJs Trick Pistol continue to carve the rest of the fractions (:57.3, 1:27.1).

St. Louis had popped pocket by the third call and was ahead by a neck at the head of the stretch. The pair would go on to open up a few lengths through the lane, as they came home to score a two and a quarter-length victory for trainer Danielle St. Louis and owner Bill Collins, of Clio, Michigan.

Tuition Money is a five-year-old brown gelding that had been racing at the Preferred 3 level at The Raceway at Western Fair District earlier this year.

St. Louis put on a show during the back half of Leamington’s Sunday card, as he notched four consecutive wins to finish off the program. His streak started in Race 6 with Cantcountmeout ($3.30) and continued with Adore Him ($2.90) and Ambers Shadow ($3.00) before finishing off with Tuition Money.

Leamington will host programs of live harness racing ever Sunday from now until October 27.
