Three-year-old pacing gelding Im Drinkin Doubles returned to Truro Raceway, where he had kicked off his sophomore year in May with back-to-back wins, and was victorious once again in Sunday afternoon's feature race.
Owned by Dartmouth, N.S. trainer Wayne Eric Whebby and R G McGroup Ltd. of Bathurst, N.B., the son of Shadow Play swept around the early leader past the half and cruised home for the 1:55.3 triumph in the $1,275 top class. Likely To Win (Ryan Ellis) finished three-quarters of a length back in second while third-place finisher Modern Best (Hilliard) Graves) was eight lengths behind.
Im Drinkin Doubles took a mark of 1:53.4 on June 23 at Mohawk Racetrack, earned two seconds and one third along with a pair of fourth-place finishes in the Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots Program during his six-race campaign with Dr. Ian Moore in Ontario this summer. He's banked $22,598 in purses so far this year.
