The 2009 Hambletonian and Hambletonian Oaks are part of a nine-race package Meadowlands Racetrack will simulcast to Scandinavian countries on August 8
.
The simulcast begins with the $525,800 Merrie Annabelle (Race 2) and includes the $523,600 Peter Haughton (Race 3), $300,000 Nat Ray Invitational (Race 7), $783,042 Hambletonian Oaks (Race 9) and $1,520,333 Hambletonian (Race 10). The package, which will be simulcast to Denmark, Norway and Sweden, includes four additional races over the previous year.
A five-race package, consisting just of the aforementioned trotting events, will be simulcast in France (up from three races the previous year). European wagering on the Hambletonian Day races will be handled in separate pools. A combined total of $1,146,225 was wagered on the 2008 Hambletonian Day races simulcast to Denmark, France, Norway and Sweden.
