“I Think I’m Under A Lot Of Scrutiny"

It is never easy for a catch-driver to ship in and find success at a foreign raceway. They have to adjust to the contours of the track, the style of racing, and the mindset of the driving colony. When you are a pilot as decorated as Jody Jamieson, it doesn't make things any easier

.

Jamieson cemented his status as one of the world’s top drivers after his dominant victory in Monday night’s $50,000 Drivers’ Championship at Tioga Downs.

The multiple O'Brien Award winner's victory in the Tioga tournament came on the heels of his second career title in the World Driving Championship.

“I think I’m under a lot of scrutiny when I come to the United States to drive horses,” Jamieson said in a post-race interview after capturing Tioga's driver tournament.

“I think people look at me and think 'he’s just a Canadian kid. He can’t compete against our guys.' For years I came down here and really got my [butt] kicked, but lately I have been competing at a high level, racing the best horses and winning with the best horses. So, I think maybe people are starting to take a second look and realize that there is some talent in Canada.”

Jamieson's post-race comments have been featured as part of 'Inside Harness Racing,' a 30-minute program which chronicles the harness racing scene at Tioga Downs and Vernon Downs.

Its time that some of these critics sit back and take that second look because there is alot of talent on our side of the pond. Unfortunately, our talent isn't marketed and promoted as well nor to the extent that the US trainers and drivers are and thats our fault over here. I think this is a part of the problem with our industry here. If we(track management,Standardbred Canada and especially the media did half the job they do over there, we could actually get people back into our grandstands. As Canadaian trainers, we should also be using our Canadian drivers over the US guys when we have the choice to do so.
Anyways, congrats Jody, at least you are doing your part.

John Campbell, Mike Lachance, Dan Dube, Yannick Gingras, and last but not least Herve Fillion what do they have in common besides being the BEST in history...... They are ALL CANADIAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
