Trot Insider has learned that driver Paul MacKenzie earned his 6,500th lifetime win on Sunday night thanks to a driving double at Flamboro Downs.

MacKenzie, known as “the King of the Passing Lane” at his home track, opened the card with a win aboard the Gord Ford pupil, three-year-old pacing colt Hornswoggle (1:56.3), before going wire-to-wire in the ninth dash to reach the milestone with seven-year-old trotter Sigarmill (2:01.1) for conditioner Tim McKinnon.

With 244 wins this year, the 48-year-old resident of Puslinch, Ontario has earned nearly $1.7 million in purse earnings. MacKenzie currently sits sixth in the standings for the Ontario Sires Stake Lampman Cup with 128 points and is fourth for wins having traveled down victory lane nine times this season.

The winner of 6,500 races lifetime has banked nearly $35.1 million over the course of his career.
