Indiana State Fair Governor’s Cup champion Coaches Corner topped the Blooded Horse Sales Company's 68th Annual Summer Mixed Sale, which was held on Wednesday, Aug. 30 at the Champions Center Expo in Springfield, Ohio.
Selling as Hip 104, three-year-old pacing gelding Coaches Corner (shown above winning at Goshen Fair on July 22) was purchased for $65,000 by Jeff Fought of Astor, Florida. Trained by Byron Hooley for Summit Pacing Acres, the Always A Virgin-Carobbean Pacetry gelding earned 11 of his 12 career wins on the Indiana fair circuit during his sophomore season and has banked close to $70,000 from 32 starts lifetime. He has a mark of 1:52.3 taken at Hoosier Park.
The top selling yearling at the sale was Hip 30, Silverton, purchased for $34,000 by Rosy Weaver of Beach City, Ohio. Consigned by breeder Mahlon A. Miller, the Ohio-sired trotting colt by Marseille is out of the Dream Vacation mare, Turquoise Sweetie. Silverton is half brother to Open mare Barn Girl, a career winner of 66 races and $862,200 with a mark of 1:52.3 taken at Northfield Park.
