Driver Jason Hughes made multiple visits to the Red Shores winner’s circle during the Saturday, Aug. 3 evening program at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park during Wilbur and Pauline MacDonald Memorial Night.
Hughes won five dashes on the card including the $4,450 Preferred Pace with Blue Hunt for trainer Ashley Gamester and owners Donald MacRae, Stephen Klunowski and Daguet Racing Llc. The time of the mile was 1:52.2 as the Huntsville four-year-old prepares for the coming Gold Cup and Saucer trials.
Hughes and Gamester also clicked with Century Invictus (1:58), Mac Anover (1:56.4) and Silken Sweet (1:58.1) for the Gamester-trained quadruple. Hughes’ other win came with Abiding Art (2:00) for trainer Kenny Arsenault.
Kenny Arsenault tripled up from his Charlottetown stable as he also won as a trainer-driver with One Wicked Man (1:57.4) and Bounty Hunter (1:53.4) in the Wilbur and Pauline MacDonald Memorial.
The MacDonald family was also trackside to present the winning cooler and trophy to Outrageous Show, driver Brady Sweet, trainer Jeff Holmes and owner Paul Holmes. The time of the mile was 1:55.1.
Driver Gilles Barrieau and trainer Ron Matheson doubled up with Ashes To Ashes (1:55.4) and The Sports Desk (1:55.2).
Bob Loblaw and driver Dale Spence won the race 12 finale in 1:55 for trainer Ken Middleton in the pacer’s third straight victory.
Live harness racing continues on Sunday, Aug. 4 at 1 p.m. at Red Shores Summerside.
