Kelly Hoerdt owned the winner's circle through first three races of Century Downs' Saturday afternoon program.
Hoerdt won the opener with Dreamers Delight ($3.30), a four-year-old Bettors Delight mare who lowered her lifetime mark to 1:56.1 and now boasts back-to-back wins at the Calgary oval.
A recent acquisition from Ontario, sophomore pacing filly Flash A Smile ($3.10), also by Bettors Delight, made her Alberta debut a winning one for Hoerdt in the next race with a seven-length romp in a career-best 1:55 mile.
Hoerdt enlisted Century Downs leading driver Mike Hennessy to steer his next winner, three-year-old filly Out Of Left Field ($5.70), as he stayed aboard Lollipop Yacht (sixth) for the third race. A newcomer to his stable, the Stepuptotheplate miss took a new mark of 1:58.1, winning by two lengths.
David Kelly enjoyed a natural hat trick of his own, driving three consecutive winners during the second half of the program, including the former Hoerdt-trained four-year-old mare Hot Kiss ($51.40), recently claimed for $15,000 and now racing from the Brent Bodor stable. The daughter of Vertical Horizon took a new lifetime mark of 1:53.1 while defeating recent Mares Open winner Scardy Cat by 2-1/4 lengths for her ninth victory of the year and 15th overall.
In other action, four-year-old pacing mare Remember The Party hauled down favourite Good Day Is Coming in 1:57.4 to give Century Horse Racing Club a winner's circle celebration. Shelly Arsenault trains the daughter of Party At Artsplace while Brandon Campbell was aboard for the winning drive.
