Casimir Richie P and driver Sylvain Filion teamed up to take the $34,000 Preferred Pace for the third week in a row with a winning performance on Saturday's Fireworks and Family Fun Night at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Filion drove the four-year-old son of Astronomical for trainer Ian Moore, who also co-owns with Toronto's Michael Goldberg.
Fancourt shot to the lead in the blink of an eye from the outside post six, but Nirvana Seelster looped him just past the :26.3 quarter and led the field stacked in single-file alignment to the half in :55.1. From there, even-money favourite Casimir Richie P, who had followed in third-place early on, made his move and laid on the pressure to three-quarters in 1:23.
As Nirvana Seelster gave way to the bettors' choice with Fancourt locked in behind down the stretch, a ground-saving Easy Lover Hanover squeezed through late but came up just short. Casimir Richie P held on to score in 1:50.1 by half a length with Torrin Hanover finishing 1-1/2 lengths back off a second-over trip, edging out Physicallyinclined and Fancourt for third prize.
Casimir Richie P went over the $100,000 mark in seasonal earnings as he notched his sixth win from 14 starts this year. The Moore trainee, who has posted sub-1:50 miles in five of his last seven starts, paid $4 to win.
Lifetime, he has earned 16 wins and $245,063 in purses.
