Sing Like An Angel was a front-stepping winner in Tuesday’s $12,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred 2 for pacers at Georgian Downs, but the win didn’t come easy.

Travis Cullen put Sing Like An Angel on the lead early, and she carved out first-half fractions of :27.3 and :56.4, before being overtaken by the parked out HP Sissy at the three-quarter pole in 1:24.2. HP Sissy showed a clear lead at the head of the lane, but Sing Like An Angel kicked home in :28.3 to win by a head over HP Sissy in 1:53.1. Gottalovemyshadow took home the show dough.

Jodie Cullen owns and trains the eight-year-old daughter of Bettors Delight-Place At The Table. It was the second win of the season for the 50-time winner who pushed her lifetime earnings to $347,416.

Howmacfiesty turned a two-hole trip into a 1:53.1 triumph for Team Harris in the $10,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 for pacers.

J Harris and Howmacfiesty tracked Pretty Hot through fractions of :28.1, :57.3 and 1:25.2 before going into attack mode. The mare found clearance in the lane and fired home in :27.3 to win by 3-1/2 lengths over Pretty Hot. Taking home the show dough was Stellenbosch.

Sent off as the odds-on favourite, the five-year-old daughter of Carnivore-Bradelle improved this year’s record to 8-5-5 from 24 starts for owner/trainer Jack Harris of Hagersville, Ont. The 24-time winner lifted her lifetime earnings to $163,251 with the win.
