Three-year-olds returned to action on the Pennsylvania Fair Circuit, with 13 races carded at the Indiana County Fairgrounds in Indiana, PA
.
In the opener, for sophomore filly trotters, Red Rum Lass, by SJs Caviar, was a 2:06.4 winner for driver Wilbur Yoder. The filly sat in the pocket behind front-running Mynah Hanover and scored by just under two lengths for owner Bill Kirwan and trainer John McMullen.
The second division was won by Graciously, driven by Roger Hammer for the Dunn Stable and trainer Boots Dunn. Also by SJs Caviar, Graciously has now won twice in 12 starts this season. The winning time was 2:08.3.
The third PASS filly trot was won by another member of the McMullen Stable, Juniata County. Yoder picked up his second winning drive of the day behind the Chip Chip Hooray filly, owned by John and Michelle McMullen. For Juniata County, the 2:06.3 win equaled her fastest among eight wins this season.
The fourth and final filly trotting division went to My Good Side, a daughter of Broadway Hall. Trained and reined by Steve Schoeffel for owner Tom Barrett, My Good Side won in 2:07.2.
Three groups of PASS colt trotters were up next, and in the first division, Cadence Hall was a winner in 2:05.2 for trainer/driver Bill Daugherty, Jr. Susan Daugherty owns the Chip Chip Hooray gelding.
In the second division, S J Better Days (SJs Caviar) came from behind to win in 2:07.2 for the Hammer & Dunn team, and they paired up again in the third division, as Linus B Worthy (Cantab Hall) won in 2:05.1.
Colt pacers were up next, and Stripen Star got away fifth in the opening division, then picked up cover down the backstretch. Driver Chris Shaw moved him three wide around the last turn, and the No Pan Intended gelding responded with his seventh win of the year, pacing in 2:02.2. Jason Shaw owns and trains the winner.
The second division brought another come-from-behind win, this time by Fool To Cry (I Am A Fool). Owned by David and John Prushnok, Fool To Cry was driven by Eric Neal for trainer Randy Neal. The winning time of 2:01 was the fastest of the afternoon.
In the final colt pacing group, Ya Gotta Go went wire-to-wire in 2:02.2 for driver Wayne Long and owner/trainer Rich Gillock. Ya Gotta Go (Metropolitan) has now won seven times in just 10 starts on the year.
In the first of three filly pacing divisions, Caramel Chinno returned to the circuit after a race at Chester, and went right back to the winners circle, pacing in 2:03.3. Hammer owns, trains and was in the bike behind the Allamerican Native filly.
Coasting Hanover, by Dragon Again, won the second division, as Wayne Long picked up his second victory of the day in the bike. Bill Kreutzer trains and co-owns with Jim Rothfuss. The winning time was 2:06.
In the final race of the day, Blissful Artist, driven by Eric Neal for Randy Neal, was a 2:01.3 winner. A daughter of Blissfull Hall, Blissful Artist has now won three straight for the Neal Racing Stable and Shainah Rugh.
Action at Indiana continues on Tuesday, while the meet at Wattsburg in Erie County also gets underway at the same time. Both cards feature two-year-olds.
