Two Twentytwo Gets Up In Time

Back in the day, Pine Hill Time with Dick Welch in the sulky would go from last, at the top of the stretch, to first when he won the weekly pacing feature. On Saturday night at Batavia Downs Casino, the Comeback Kid, Two Twentytwo gave his best impersonation

.

Going off at odds of 2-5 in the featured $9,000 Preferred Pace, Two Twentytwo, with Jamie Dunlap in the bike, could see them all as the field of five turned for home, but a :28 final stanza was good enough to get Two Twentytwo to the wire first, to score by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:54.1. Justlikeart and Kevin Cummings got up for second, in a close place photo, over Scottsrollsroyce and Tom Agosti.

When asked what his strategy for the first race on the card and feature race of the evening was, Jamie Dunlap remarked, “All my intentions were to follow Justlikeart, since he has been racing amazingly well and I figured he would carry me.” And that is exactly what he did throughout the mile.

Two Twentytwo, a six-year-old bay gelding by Blissful Hall, notched his seventh win of the year and already his third of the meet. Trainer Rich Mays had done a great job with Two Twentytwo, off two years due to an injury, for owner Dominic Colarusso Jr.
