Trainer Kerin Warner enjoyed a productive evening at Vernon Downs on Friday (August 27), sending out four winners during the 13-race card.
Warner combined with driver Justin Huckabone for the grand slam with Fancy Knows ($13), Bet Big On Blue ($7.10), In The Cards ($9.50) and Quaker Hill ($10.80).
Leon Bailey also drove four winners on the program, but for four different trainers. Conditioned by Misty Carey, Spoiler Alert ($6.50) was among his winners in the featured $5,000 trot.
Haveitalltogether (Chris Long) grabbed the early lead, but Cindy Michelle (John Stark) took over just before hitting the first quarter in :27.2. Bailey made his move with Spoiler Alert going first-over as they headed for the backstretch. Spoiler Alert led to the half in :56.3 and three-quarters in 1:25.3 as Haveitalltogether came first-up.
Spoiler Alert was just cruising as they reached the stretch but started to tire at mid-stretch as Getting Serious came flying. Spoiler Alert dug in and held on to win in 1:54.4. Getting Serious was second-best as Haveitalltogether finished third.
Spoiler Alert is a seven-year-old gelding by Chapter Seven. He is owned by Jeffrey Hayes. The win was his third this season and the 19th of his career.
Bailey’s other wins were with Lanjo Lee ($2.60), Phoenix ($3) and Ladyyouaregorgeous ($9.60).
Vernon Downs hosts live racing next on Saturday, with a 13-race card featuring the $325,000 Zweig Memorial for three-year-old trotters as well as the companion $140,000 Zweig Filly Trot.
