Clinton Raceway will host the 45th Annual Charity Driver's Challenge this Sunday, Aug. 31 with a star-studded lineup of drivers and more than $1,500 in fan prizes up for grabs, courtesy of the Central Ontario Standardbred Association (COSA).
The participants this year are Travis Henry, Daryl Thiessen, Tyler Borth, Paul MacKenzie, Austin Sorrie, Lorne House, Garrett Rooney, and Samuel Fillion — all competing for bragging rights in the annual charity showdown.
It’s easy for fans to get in on the action. Attendees can fill out the ballot found inside the race program (available on-site or free to download at clintonraceway.com) and drop it in the ballot box of the driver they think will win the eight-race, points-based challenge. No purchase is necessary, but fans will need to be quick — ballot boxes close after Race 1.
Once the challenge wraps up after Race 8, five winners will be drawn, each tied to the top five-finishing drivers. The grand prize, matching with the winning driver, will be a $750 cash payout, with additional prizes awarded through fifth place.
Beyond the on-track excitement, local veterans and their communities will benefit from the event. Proceeds from the Charity Driver’s Challenge support the Royal Canadian Legion branches in Seaforth, Exeter, Hensall, and Clinton. Over the event’s proud history, it has raised more than $377,000.
“Clinton Raceway is proud to team up with COSA to give fans another reason to get excited about one of our biggest events of the year,” said officials from Clinton Raceway. “Not only will you see the best drivers in action, but you’ll also be supporting a cause that directly benefits our local communities.”
Fans are encouraged to arrive early, place their ballots, and soak up the electric atmosphere of this signature racing event that has become a community tradition for nearly half a century.
