Open pacer Risenshine Seaside topped the 69th annual Blooded Horse Summer Sale on Tuesday, Aug. 27 at the Champions Center in Springfield, Ohio.
The mixed sale featured 139 Black Type yearlings along with racehorses and breeding stock.
Risenshine Seaside, selling as Hip 146, was the sale topper with a final bid of $101,351 ($75,000 USD). Consigned by Burke Racing Stable, the Downbytheseaside-Vivid Shine gelding was purchased by Cory Kreiser of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. The five-year-old pacer, who has been competing in the Pennsylvania and Ohio Open ranks this year, sports a career record reading 20-9-10 from 62 starts with earnings of $372,294 and a lifetime mark of 1:48.3 taken last year at The Meadows.
The top selling yearling was the Long Tom colt Pump Action, Hip 61, going to Rosy Weaver of Beach City, Ohio for $39,189 ($29,000 USD). Bred by Mahlon Miller of Sugarcreek, Ohio and consigned by Walnut Valley Equine, the colt is the sixth foal out of the Jailhouse Jesse mare, Jailhouse Jenny. He is a full brother to Long Ball ($62,752, 1:59.1h).
