In Secret Three-peats At Yonkers

In Secret, driven by George Brennan, won his third straight when taking the $50,000 Open Handicap at Yonkers Raceway on Sunday, August 27.

Going one mile, a scratch moved the eight-hole assigned In Secret in one notch, and he took control, going splits of :27.4, :56.4, and 1:24.2 before winning in 1:54.1. The life-best effort was also the fastest local trotting mile of the season.

Taco Tuesday tried to stick close from a loose pocket, but tired. In Secret, sent off 12-1 last week, held favouritism this week. He opened three lengths in and out the final turn, winning by three-and-a-quarter lengths in the end.

Georgie’s Pockets rallied from third to chase home the runaway, with Dewycolorintheline, Taco Tuesday and Sumatra rounding out the payees.

For In Secret, a five-year-old Dewycheatumnhowe gelding co-owned (as Burke Racing) by trainer Ron Burke along with J&T Silva Stables, Larry Karr and Weaver Bruscemi, it was his seventh win in 18 seasonal starts.

Note the Raceway’s post time next Sunday, September 3 is 12:30 PM.
