Sitting a pocket trip, Good Luck Kathy edged past tempo-setter Shadows Mystery to take the $2,250 Filly and Mare Open Pace at Charlottetown Driving Park on Saturday, August 26.
In the pocket through fractions of :28.1, :57.4, and 1:27.4, Good Luck Kathy observed a duel between Shadows Mystery and Ramblinglily pressuring from first over, even taking a narrow lead before the final turn. Good Luck Kathy slid past Shadows Mystery faltering in the stretch and soon surpassed Ramblinglily to win.
Returning $9.00 to win, Good Luck Kathy, a seven-year-old mare by Believeinbruiser from the Camluck mare Lucky Kathy, competes for owner Danny Birt, trainer Jennifer Trainor, and was driven by Jason Hughes.
