"We're within two or three weeks. It's getting down to the very short strokes." Those are the words of Belleville Agricultural Society President Doug Rollins, on the long-awaited Belleville racetrack project
.
Rollins is quoted in today's Belleville Intelligencer as saying that the project has really picked up steam since site owner Baymount partnered with Macallan Equity in January.
"Baymount's still involved but they're very limited. They're small partners, let's put it that way," Rollins said. "The other guy who's taken it over — Joel Ross of the Macallan group — is driving the whole operation now."
While the city has yet to receive any official paperwork, City Planner Rod Bovay remains optimistic.
"It certainly sounds like stuff is happening," said Bovay. "We're keeping our fingers crossed."
