Century Downs will close out its 2025 harness meet on Saturday, Aug. 30 with a family-friendly day filled with live horse racing, delicious food and dog-centered festivities including a Dachshund Dash.
Guests can enjoy thrilling live Standardbred horse racing, sip on complimentary samples from Screaming Retriever Brewing Company and Happy Dogs Wine and indulge in a specialty hot dog menu and corn BBQ station with a live DJ providing entertainment between the races. There will be a 50/50 draw in support of Alberta Dachshund Rescue and guests can browse a pet shop pop-up from Parachutes for Pets before the crowd-favourite Dachshund races, where the top four finishers will take home prize baskets courtesy of Petland and Airdrie Puppy Pals.
Post time for the harness racing program is 12:45 p.m. (MDT), with the 12-race card featuring Alberta's top pacers in a final edition of the $16,000 Preferred Handicap with Rod Hennessy stable star Shark Week seeking his seventh straight victory.
The Dachshund races will follow the card at approximately 4:55 p.m. (MDT).
