Random Mission Paces To Preferred Win

Sophomore gelding Random Mission took on a field of older pacers on Saturday night at Hanover Raceway in the $8,000 Preferred 3 Pace with the betting public on his side, and he didn't disappoint his backers.

Favourite Random Mission ($4.20) rebuffed the first over challenge from the Scott Wray-driven Jackstan and opened up more than three lengths down the stretch to win the feature event in 1:55.4 with driver Travis Bowman in the sulky. The Modern Art gelding defeated veteran pacer Donegal Mac, driven by Ryan Holliday, and Lawmen Reign, with Ross Battin in the bike.

After going winless in 12 starts as a freshman, Random Mission has put together a sophomore record reading 4-3-5 in 20 starts to push his career earnings to $52,743. The bay gelding took his mark of 1:55.2 in a leg of the Slots Cup Series earlier this summer at Hanover. He is trained by Paul Taylor for owner Richard Grenier of London, Ont.
