Odds-on favourite Pretty Handsome pulled off the pylons from third and strolled past his competition to take the $11,500 Preferred 2 Pace at Georgian Downs on Sunday, Aug. 25.
Driver Colin Kelly placed the Andrew McCabe trainee behind Paparazzi Hanover and Adore Him as they battled to a :26.4 opening quarter. Paparazzi Hanover cleared control through the stretch and led the field to a :56.1 half, but gave way past three-quarters in 1:24 as Pretty Handsome rushed first over towards the lead. Pretty Handsome slightly expanded his lead through the lane while stopping the clock in 1:52.2 with American Wiggle, tracking cover, taking second and Paparazzi Hanover settling for third.
A four-year-old gelding by Mach Three, Pretty Handsome won his 10th race from 23 starts this season and his 23rd from 43 overall, earning $228,725. Glenview Livestock Ltd. owns the $2.50 winner.
