When Bolero Charles is on his game he’s mighty tough to catch. Clearly he was on his game in Thursday’s $13,000 Preferred for pacers at Rideau Carleton Raceway

.

Bolero Charles marched to the front for driver John MacDonald in Thursday’s feature race, and after slicing out fractions of :27, :55.4 and 1:23.1 the veteran dug in and used a :27.4 closing panel to win by 5-1/2 lengths in an eye-catching clocking of 1:51. Pieraz tagged along to finish second, with Viper Select grabbing the show dough.

Sent off as the 3-5 favourite, Bolero Charles won for the seventh time this season and for the 34th time in his career. Gerard Demers trains the nine-year-old son of Jennas Beach Boy for 9174 7998 Quebec Inc of Blainville, QC. The classy campaigner has banked more than $540,000 in his career.
