Odds-on favourite Pretty Handsome protected position from the pylon post to post a 1:52.3 victory in the $13,000 Horses & Geldings Preferred 2 Pace on Tuesday (Aug. 24) at Georgian Downs.
Pushing for the front, Pretty Handsome carved fractions of :27 and :57 with Statement Made A sitting in the pocket and Pembrook Legacy N in third. Pembrook Legacy N moved for the front into the backstretch, advancing towards Pretty Handsome as he quickened the tempo to three-quarters in 1:24.3. His acceleration deterred Pembrook Legacy N into the final turn and left the six-year-old Mach Three gelding to coast through the stretch 1-1/4 lengths better than Pedro Hanover, who rallied from off cover to take second. Statement Made A finished third.
Owned by Glenview Livestock Ltd., Pretty Handsome won his fifth race from 11 starts this season and his 35th from 79 overall, earning $347,370. J Harris drove the Lacey McCabe trainee who paid $3.40 to win.
