Saturday was a night of domination for ‘The Maritime Magic Man’ and Rose Run Quest winning the feature was the crowning moment at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Gilles Barrieau had four winners on the 13-dash Saturday program at the Capital oval including a 1:54.3 open-length score aboard Rose Run Quest in the $2,900 Preferred Pace.
Barrieau subbed in for regular driver and trainer Marc Campbell, who was racing in stakes action in Nova Scotia, and proceeded to control the race from the start and widen his advantage. Rose Run Quest laid down front end splits of :28.2, :57.3 and 1:26.1 before winning by four-and-three-quarter lengths over Best To Hurst (Driven by Walter Cheverie) and Woodmere Ideal Art (Norris Rogers). Blair Hansen of Charlottetown holds the ownership papers of the seven-year-old son of If I Can Dream.
Barrieau’s other wins came with Sodwana Bay in the $2,700 Fillies and Mares Open pace in 1:56.4, Dusty Lane Cortez in a six-length romp in 1:58.1 and Selkirk Echo in 2:02.1.
Jason Hughes had a driving triple on the card winning with Dees Boy (2:00.2), JK Express (1:57.1) and Rockin Indy (1:57.1).
