After a couple of efforts that didn't generate much buzz, Nonversation entered the chat with a gritty performance in the $6,250 Open Pace at The Loop on Saturday, Aug. 23.
Hurry Home (Darryl Mason) and Two Shoes (Marc Fillion) used their inside posts to gain early position while Richard Remillard watched in third with 11-1 shot Nonversation through a :29.1 opening quarter. Favoured Ginger Tree Finny (Michel Rey) flushed Nonversation off the rail heading to the :59.2 half.
Remillard rated his charge down the backside and cleared Hurry Home through the 1:30 third station. Ginger Tree Finny looked to lose some ground around the far turn, but found his best stride once hitting the homestretch. Nonversation answered the challenge and repelled the public choice to win by half a length with the mile timed in 1:59.4. Outlaw Spiced Rum (Tyler Grundy) completed the triactor ticket.
Tara Isman trains and co-owns Nonversation, a five-year-old Mystician mare from Say Anything, along with Remillard and Jim Wilson of Regina, Sask. The win is the pacer's sixth of the year and 16th lifetime, bringing her career earnings just shy of the $100,000 plateau. She returned a solid $25.70 to win.
